The SOCCSKSARGEN Bloggers is beaming with pride to hold the first-ever BlogFest SOCCSKSARGEN in a city where even the topmost official has embraced technology that, we bloggers believe and know, brings positive change – new media.
The mayor of the city of General Santos, the Honorable Darlene Antonino-Custodio, will deliver the keynote address for this year’s BlogFest SOCCSKSARGEN. Mayor Custodio, or more popularly known as Mayor Darlene, is a tech-savvy public official that has learned to make use of social networks to reach out to people. Proof: two Facebook accounts where one is filled to the brim, a Fan Page, a Dear Darlene Feedback page and a fresh-looking blog that makes the Chief Executive’s moves, to make the City a better place for everyone, public.
Mayor Darlene was the former representative of the first district of South Cotabato and General Santos to the House of Representatives. She could have been a candidate to watch out for in higher positions, but she chose to serve the people in the place she calls home.
She is the daughter of Aldelbert and Luwalhati R. Antonino, who both served as mayor and house representative of the first district of South Cotabato and General Santos City and from whom she obviously got her admirable work ethics and unblemished service record.
